Continued protection

Areas “voluntarily” wishing to become or are “currently” under conservation are eligible under the GCS to ensure their continued protection and increase financing to ensure they are monitored (i.e. conservation areas, national parks, world heritage sites, forest reserves, virgin jungle reserves).

Commercial Conservation

The GCS brings money to areas voluntarily gazetted for conservation;

Truly Global Standard

The GCS is truly global and is not restricted by forest type or geographical area (i.e. Wapusk National Park, Canada, Kilimanjaro National park, Tanzania, Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal);

3rd Party Verified

The GCS uses accredited bodies to carry out annual assessments of carbon stocks, thus maintaining objectivity and precision in carbon accounting.
